Implant Restorations

Implant restorations provide the most stable and permanent option for filling the empty spaces caused by missing teeth. This is a form of restorative dentistry we offer to our patients at Blue Heron Dentistry in Copley, OH.

What Are Implant Restorations?

If you have lost one or more teeth from gum disease or tooth decay, you have options to fill in the gaps and restore your smile. After treatment for periodontal disease, Dr. Maze can provide implant restorations to permanently fill the gaps, bringing back full use of your teeth for chewing, talking and smiling.

Implant restorations are attached to your mouth through a screw that goes into your gum and jawbone to provide a stable replacement to a natural tooth root. Dr. Maze attaches a natural-looking tooth replacement onto the screw to provide the look and function of a tooth where there was previously a gap.

Types of Dental Implant Restorations

The piece attached to the screw(s) depends on how many teeth are missing in a row. To fill in the space of a single missing tooth, Dr. Maze uses a single crown. For more than one missing tooth, she fills in the gap with either an implant-based dental bridge, partial dentures or full dentures. Our dental team would be happy to discuss the various options with you and recommend the best solution for your situation.

Benefits of Implant Restorations

There are distinct benefits to implant restorations compared to other treatment options for missing teeth. Removable prosthetics, also known as dentures, fail to prevent healthy teeth and the face from shifting because there is a lack of structure to hold everything in place. A fixed prosthesis, more commonly known as a bridge, provides the next level up, but still fails to replace the tooth root.

Implant restorations are the only option that fully replace the root and crown of each tooth. When the root and crown are replaced, it prevents bone loss within the jaw and provides the full stability of natural teeth. It also holds the natural teeth in place. Implants can last for the rest of your life, and they give you a more youthful appearance by keeping your face and jawbone in the correct placement. They provide strong and natural-looking teeth that are sure to put a smile on your face.
